Special Programs

 Parent & Caretaker Workshop:
​“Empowered Beginnings: Nurturing Early Communication Skills”

  • Speech Development Workshop for Parents & Caretakers: Tuesday, November 11th at 8:00 pm on zoom. Join Empower Therapy for a family-friendly workshop to explore how you can support your child’s early communication. Connect with local Speech-Language Pathologists and learn simple, practical ways to help your little one make their voice heard. Email [email protected] to register.  FREE​
  • Free Speech Screenings at The Children’s Room: Saturday, November 15th from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Have questions or concerns about your child’s communication development so far? Meet with local Language-Speech Pathologists to screen your child and get feedback. Email [email protected] to register. The Children’s Room will be open during this time for your child to play while waiting for a screening session. FREE

Lantern Making for Children and Families

The Children’s Room and Makersphere are pleased to offer FREE lantern workshops in conjunction with The River of Light parade held in December in Waterbury each year. Children will work with their adults and facilitators to make their very own lantern for the River of Light parade! Parade is on Saturday, December 6th, but participation in the parade is not required. Email [email protected] to register. Choose date below.

Come join   us to  connect with other kids and families and have FUN!

Nature Explorations

Get outside for some fresh air and fun- year round, rain or shine! Every week we go to a different trailhead or natural area to explore and connect- with the natural world and each other. We go out in nearly any weather, unless temps get very cold or heavy rain. Activities are hands-on and facilitated by an instructor. Ages 0-6 and carriers/strollers are helpful for little ones!   Register to get location and activity specifics for each week.  Enrollment is always open:).

Music & Movement 

Ready for some singing, moving & playing? Come join The Children's Room for our drop in Music & Movement class,  at The Children's Room space in Brookside Primary School. We begin by singing songs and moving together and allow time at the end to play with instruments, as well as time for adults and kids to socialize too. Ages 0-6.

Friday Playgroup!

Come to TCR Fridays for some fun and meet some friends! We'll have hands-on explorations and art projects to do while you play. Join us on Friday Playgroup to explore, play and create! Ages 0 to 6.

Weekend Programs

NEW- Waterbury Dads Club Meet Ups

Big news is that TCR is partnering with local Waterbury dads, Finlay Miller and Ryan Van Tuinen, to start a Waterbury Dads Club! These gatherings are open to all, and there are plans for two outings a month with kids and dads. FREE!
  • Waterbury Dads Club Playground Meetup: Friday, November 7th, 3:45 pm- 5:00 pm. Join us some playground and outdoors time at the Brookside Primary School playground. All ages are welcome. Come connect with other dads, enjoy the outdoors, and give the kids a fun afternoon together. See attached flyer to register to join the club email list.
  • Waterbury Dads Club Nature Outing: NOW Saturday, November 22nd at  10:00 am. Join us for a walk from the Brookside Primary School Playground    down to the Thatcher Brook. Come connect with other dads, enjoy the outdoors, and give the kids a fun afternoon together.

Weekend Meet Ups!

 Want to get some kid energy out and meet up with other families on the weekend? Monthly on weekends, we go to playgrounds around Central Vermont, go sledding or ice skating in  community rinks,  have an open gym session at Brookside Primary School or meet up at a local swimming hole. Come join The Children’s Room for  energy filled fun!    Snacks provided too:)

Looking to get some kid energy out? Come join us at the Brookside Elementary School Playground in Waterbury! Snacks too.

Saturday Storytime & Songs

The Children’s Room is teaming up with Waterbury Public library to do a weekend sessions of singing, dancing and stories. Join   TCR and Sandra from WPL for some fun!  We  sing songs and move together,  have two story breaks  and allow time   at the end to play with instruments, as well as time for adults and kids to socialize too.    Ages 0 to 5.
