Come join   us to  connect with other kids and families and have FUN!

Nature Explorations

Get outside for some fresh air and fun! Every week we go to a different trailhead or natural area to explore and connect- with the natural world and each other. We go out in nearly any weather, unless temps get very cold or heavy rain. Activities are hands-on and facilitated by an instructor. Ages 0-6 and carriers are helpful for little ones!   Register to get location and activity specifics for each week.  Enrollment is always open:).

Music & Movement

Ready for some singing, moving & playing? Come join The Children's Room for our drop in Music & Movement class,  at The Children's Room space in Brookside Primary School. We begin by singing songs and moving together and allow time at the end to play with instruments, as well as time for adults and kids to socialize too. Ages 0-6.  Cancellations are posted by 8:00 am on the online calendar.

Come on  Fridays  to The Children's Room to play and dig into an art project or hands-on exploration every week.

Playground  Playgroups & Meet Ups

 
 Winter Playground & Sledding/Ice Skating Meet Ups:
Come join The Children’s Room for some winter fun on sledding hills, ice rinks and playgrounds together! We are doing monthly playground, sledding and ice skating meet ups in Central Vermont. Check the online calendar for weather cancellations.   Snacks and hot chocolate provided too this winter!

Weekends, ​10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Saturday, January 21st: Sledding & Skating Meet Up @  Crossett Brook  Middle School    (bring your own skates), drive around to the back 
Sunday February 5th: Winterfest Sledding and Snow Play Party @ Waterbury Public Library.   
Activities will include sledding on the hill, a winter eye spy hunt in the garden, and making snow sculptures and snow forts. Bring a sled and/or a shovel. Snacks and warm beverages provided! Look for the tent in the library parking lot.



Adult Offerings


Nurturing a Child’s Sense of Wonder Workshop Series: Get ready for winter outdoor play! Facilitated by the Four Winds Nature Institute, these FREE workshops are for adults interested in spending more time outside playing and learning with youngsters.  Join this  discussion series to explore topics and best practices in supporting nature-based play and adventure while nurturing a sense of wonder, place and well-being. Two online sessions are followed by in person Nature Explorations with kids:). To register, contact childrensroom@huusd.org.

Online session #2: Monday, February 13th, 7:00-8:30 pm
Nature Explorations: Tuesday, February 21st, 10:00 am to 11:30 am at an area trailhead
